Discover the wine-growing tradition of the Gironde by visiting an estate where some of the best wines in France are produced. We'll also enjoy a wine tasting!
Tour Options
When booking your trip to Saint Emilion from Bordeaux, you can opt for a wine-tasting tour at a Château Grand Cru winery or a family-run winery.
Both options include pickup at the indicated time from the Monument to the Girondins at Place des Quinconces, transport and an English-speaking guide.
Tour + Wine tasting at a family winery (4 hours)
We'll meet at the indicated meeting point and, after a 40-minute drive, we'll arrive in Saint-Émilion, where we'll take a guided tour to discover its bucolic historic centre, listed as a World Heritage Site. We'll also learn about the legend of an 8th-century Benedictine monk who spent the last 17 years of his life here.
We'll then travel to the outskirts of the village to visit a family-run winery where the famous Bordeaux wines are made. At this wine tourism centre, which varies according to the season, we'll take a walk through the vineyards, see the rooms where the barrels are stored and observe the stages of the winemaking process, from grape picking to bottling.
Our guided tour of the winery will conclude with a tasting of 2 wines accompanied by a typical French aperitif of bread, cheese, cold meats and chocolate. Delicious! After this tasting, we'll return to the starting point in Bordeaux, where we'll arrive 4 hours after the start of the tour.
Tour + Wine tasting at a Château Grand Cru winery (4.5 hours)
After meeting at Place des Quinconces, we'll make our way to the medieval village of Saint-Émilion by minibus.
During the tour, our guide will tell us some interesting facts about the region's winemaking tradition, admiring the vineyards and the cellars where the bottles of wine are stored, which have been made with care for several generations.
We'll continue our tour on the outskirts of Saint-Émilion, where we'll visit the cellar of a château. There we'll see how the famous Grand Cru Classé wines are made, which are among the most prestigious in the region. We'll see their excellent quality with a tasting of four wines. In addition, the tasting will be accompanied by a pairing of typical French products, including bread and fresh cheese.
After enjoying this oenological and gastronomic experience, we'll go to the centre of the village for a guided tour of Saint-Émilion. Did you know that its old town has been declared a World Heritage Site? During the walk, you'll discover that it certainly has every reason to be recognised as such.
Finally, we'll bring the tour to an end as we return to Bordeaux after 4.5 hours.
