Saint-Emilion Day Trip + Visit to the Monolithic Church + Wine Tasting

  • 79 reviews | 632 travellers
It was a fantastic experience. The guide, Kevin, was very kind and pleasant and made us enjoy a spectacular day. Both the town and the church are beautiful. The wine tasting and the explanation were spectacular, as was “the surprise”, tasting cheeses and sausages accompanied by a good wine in a very charming place. Thank you very much for everything, Kevin. We will return!

Description

We'll pick you up at the scheduled time at your hotel in Bordeaux, and from there we'll make our way towards the medieval town of Saint-Émilion. During the journey, we'll hear some interesting facts about the region and its world-famous wines.

After a journey of around 40 minutes, we'll arrive at Saint-Émilion, where we'll take a walking tour to uncover its bucolic historic centre which has been declared a World Heritage Site. We'll first visit the Trinity Chapel, where we'll see the fusion of Romanesque and Gothic styles in its medieval paintings.

We'll continue this tour of Saint-Émilion by visiting the Monolithic Church. Did you know that this underground church was built into the rock by more than 50 monks? We'll visit the underground areas of this church to discover the impressive vaults and pillars of its catacombs, which will surely amaze you.

After visiting these underground areas, we'll make our way to the local winery to enjoy a wine tasting of 3 Grand Cru wines. Do you know how they're made? Do you know from where they originate? We'll learn all about this and much more!

Finally, we'll make our way back to the starting point in Bordeaux, where we'll bring this trip to an end after 5 hours in total.

Hotel Pickup

This activity includes pickup from hotels in the centre of Bordeaux. If you're staying outside this area, we'll pick you up at the time indicated from the Tourist Office In Bordeaux, in Place des Quinconces.
