Rive Droite Alternative Free Tour
The Rive Droite of Bordeaux
At the indicated time, we'll meet at rue Saint-James, underneath the doorway of the Grosse Cloche, to start our alternative free tour through Bordeaux. From the meeting point, in the historic city center, we'll stroll to the Rive Droite, the bohemian area of the New Aquitaine capital.
As we make our way to the Rive Droite, we'll pass through the old town of Bordeaux. We'll walk by significant monuments, like the Saint-Michel Basilica and St. Croix Church. Strolling through the picturesque city, we'll cross the river and finally come to the Rive Droite. Here, along the riverbanks of the Garonne River, we'll find the bohemian area of Bordeaux and an authentic wine bar, where you'll try the famous clarete bordelés.
We'll start our route through Rive Droite, walking to La Bastide. In this neighborhood, one of Bordeaux's most alternative, we'll visit important sites like Place Stalingrad and rue Honoré Picon. We'll also see the Gare d'Orleans, formerly a train station, now a newly renovated space offers different theaters and restaurants.
Then, we'll continue our free tour of the Rive Droite and head to Parc aux Angéliques, also along the Garonne riverbanks. Next to the park, we'll also find the Bordeaux Botanical Gardens and the Toussaint Louverture bust sculpture. After discovering who this significant figure was in history, we'll continue our route to the Sainte-Marie-de-la-Bastide Church.
Finally, after 2 hours, we'll bring our free tour to an end in the Darwin neighborhood, one of the most fashionable districts in the Rive Droite de Bordeaux
