At the scheduled time, we'll collect you from your hotel in Bordeaux to begin making our way towards the Citadel of Blaye. After an hour, we'll see its imposing walls. Once there, we'll enter this military fort that played a vital role in the defensive systems of Aquitania
We'll begin the tour of the Citadel of Blaye by visiting its underground passages, where we'll discover the secrets of the construction of this bastion. How was it built and how long did it take? What was it used for? Be sure to pay attention to the interesting history during the tour!
We'll continue the tour by visiting the walls, where we'll discover the use and military strategy they held, which were designed by architect Vauban during the 17th century. Did you know that, from the air, the citadel takes on the shape of a star? Of course, we'll also check out the towers and stop off in front of the fortified gates.
Finally, we'll make our way towards the majestic castle, putting the cherry on top of this already fantastic tour with a wine tasting from the denomination of Côtes de Bourg. There, we'll relax while being surrounded by history and the stunning views of the Gironda Estuary. Photo moment!
Finally, we'll head back to Bordeaux, where we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 5 hours together.
