Bologna Outskirts Bike Tour
Description
At the time indicated, we'll meet on Via Vitale da Bologna, 1A and hop onto our electric bikes. From here, we'll start pedalling around the villages that surround Bologna.
To begin, we'll cycle to the Casalecchio Dam. This dam was built in the 14th century on the Reno River, and we'll discuss how this feat of engineering contributed to Bologna's economic boom. We'll also talk about how it's linked to the canals that once ran through the city.
Afterwards, we'll cycle to the town of Sasso Marconi, where the inventor of the radio was born. We'll touch on the most interesting chapters in the life of Gugliemo Marconi, a Nobel Prize in Physics winner and one of the most famous people in the Emilia Romagna region.
The final stop of the day will be in Palazzo de Rossi, a small medieval village where time appears to have stood still. Did you know that Pope Julius II once stayed here?
During the final stretch of our bike tour, we'll cycle through avenues lined with trees on our way back to the starting point. Our tour will come to an end after a total of 3 hours.
