Bologna Outskirts Bike Tour

  • 1 review | 20 travellers
A very pleasant tour also useful for those like us who have lived here for years but do not know Bologna and its surroundings. Fun for children, wonderful views of nature a stone's throw from Bologna. Dear Stella and Jacopo! Vehicles in excellent condition and a lot of choice. Maximum flexibility (I had broken my foot and had to postpone) .. Absolutely recommended

If you'd like to explore the beautiful area surrounding Bologna, we've got the perfect activity for you! On our Bologna Outskirts Bike Tour, we'll visit small towns near Emilia Romagna's capital, such as Casalecchio di Reno, Sasso Marconi and Palazzo de Rossi.

Description

At the time indicated, we'll meet on Via Vitale da Bologna, 1A and hop onto our electric bikes. From here, we'll start pedalling around the villages that surround Bologna.

To begin, we'll cycle to the Casalecchio Dam. This dam was built in the 14th century on the Reno River, and we'll discuss how this feat of engineering contributed to Bologna's economic boom. We'll also talk about how it's linked to the canals that once ran through the city.

Afterwards, we'll cycle to the town of Sasso Marconi, where the inventor of the radio was born. We'll touch on the most interesting chapters in the life of Gugliemo Marconi, a Nobel Prize in Physics winner and one of the most famous people in the Emilia Romagna region.

The final stop of the day will be in Palazzo de Rossi, a small medieval village where time appears to have stood still. Did you know that Pope Julius II once stayed here?

During the final stretch of our bike tour, we'll cycle through avenues lined with trees on our way back to the starting point. Our tour will come to an end after a total of 3 hours.
