Activity Details
At the appointed time, we'll meet at the entrance of the Archiginnasio of Bologna to begin our guided tour. Get ready to walk through this iconic building of the capital of Emilia-Romagna and explore its most emblematic spaces.
The tour will start in the central courtyard of the Archiginnasio, which is surrounded by arches decorated with hundreds of heraldic coats of arms that belonged to the former students of the University of Bologna.
Afterward, we'll enter the Anatomical Theatre, a real jewel of carved wood dating back to the 17th century. Did you know that this space was used for anatomy lessons? There, students observed demonstrations that took place in the center of the room.
The tour will culminate in the Library of the Archiginnasio, one of the oldest and most important libraries in Italy. While we won't go inside the library, we'll tell you about the extraordinary collection of books and manuscripts from past centuries that it houses.
Then, 1 hour later, we'll end the guided tour by saying goodbye at the entrance of the Archiginnasio of Bologna.
