If you're in Bogota, a visit to Simón Bolívar Park is a must. In this tour, we'll visit this green lung of the capital of Colombia as well as the Virgilio Barco Public Library.
Simón Bolívar Park & Virgilio Barco Library Tour
At 8:40 am, we'll meet at the entrance of the Virgilio Barco Public Library to begin a tour of its interior. Ready to visit one of the most visited places in Bogotá?
This library owes its name to President Virgilio Barco Vargas. Inside we'll see its peculiar architecture in the form of a snail, and on the outside, we'll find reflecting pools that add an extra dimension to the building.
Throughout the guided tour of the library, we'll talk about Rogelio Salmona, the architect who masterfully integrated this building into the park using a series of geographical, landscape, historical and experiential principles. You'll learn all about it during the tour!
Then, our tour will move on to Simón Bolívar Central Park, originally built in 1968 for the visit of Pope Paul VI. It spans 113 hectares, forming a true oasis in the Colombian capital: a lake, trails, a bike path, and an event plaza for more than 80,000 spectators - an absolute must-see in the city!
After three hours, we'll finish the tour in the vicinity of the park.
