Description
Get ready for an epic adventure starting at the Cranky Croc Hostel! We'll leave bustling Bogota behind and make our way to the stunning Páramo de Sumapaz. But first, we'll make a pit stop for a delicious traditional breakfast to fuel up for the day ahead.
Once we reach our destination, get ready to be blown away by the vastness of the world's largest moor, sitting at a whopping altitude of over 3500 meters (11,500 feet)! This natural wonder spans nearly half-million acres teeming with unique flora and fauna. Keep your eyes peeled for Andean bears, deer, eagles, condors, and more incredible creatures that call this high Andean ecosystem home. We'll embark on a hiking adventure, immersing ourselves in the breathtaking landscapes.
But Sumapaz is more than just its natural beauty. It's also steeped in indigenous traditions that date back centuries. Prepare to be amazed as we uncover the ancient rites and rituals practiced in this South American region before the Spanish arrived.
We'll visit two jaw-dropping viewpoints, offering panoramic vistas of the Frailejones Valley and the glacial lagoons of the páramo. After our adventure, we'll retrace our steps along the trail and make a pit stop at a farmhouse for some delicious fruit snacks to recharge.
To wrap up this unforgettable journey, we'll transport you back to the starting point in Bogota, approximately eight hours after pickup.
