Bogota Free War & Peace History Tour
Bogota War & Peace History Tour
Would you like to learn about the history of the armed conflict in Colombia from a local guide? We'll meet at 10 am in front of the Gold Museum and start to review the darkest chapters of Bogota's recent history.
First, we'll visit the key points of the Colombian capital, where there was once violence, drugs and weapons. Today, this situation has changed radically. To understand the dimension of the armed conflict, we'll detail how it originated and the current situation in the country.
During the free tour, we'll get to know the political thoughts that differentiate liberals and conservatives. We'll also discover which are the most influential political heroes. One of them was Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, leader of the Liberal Party, whose assassination on 9 April 1948 led to a series of riots known as the Bogotazo.
As we walk the streets of the Colombian capital, we'll delve into the differences between the Liberal guerrillas and the paramilitary groups. Of course, we'll also talk about the historic peace agreement between the FARC and ELN.
After 3 hours of diving into the causes of the armed conflict in Colombia, at 1 pm we'll end the tour in front of the Teatro Colón in Bogotá.
