Colombian Fruit Tour
Colombian Fruit Tour
Our adventure begins with a walk from the Mercado de Paloquemao, entrance 10. From this point, we'll take public transport to reach the capital's fruit market. Along the way, we will talk about Colombia's culinary traditions and the key role of tropical fruits in its gastronomy.
Once at the market, we'll enjoy a nice stroll and learn about the many varieties of tropical fruits that exist in Colombia. One of them is the granadilla. As soon as we taste it, we'll appreciate the sweet taste of the pulp that covers its seeds. We'll also taste another popular product found in the stalls of Paloquemao: the zapote. Although its skin is very rough and difficult to peel, it is well worth the effort, as inside you will find a very refreshing orange flesh.
Our venture through the market will also take us to the point of sale of passion fruit. We'll experience the varied flavours while we learn about some historical facts related to its supposed aphrodisiac properties. We will also visit a soursop stall. Despite its rough appearance, when you peel it, you will discover a whitish fleshy part whose mild flavour contrasts with its rough exterior.
Before returning to the same starting point, we'll enjoy a good fruit juice to round off this tour.
