Description
We'll meet at the Chantonner Delikatesen to begin our fascinating guided tour of the Gold Museum and the neighbourhood of La Candelaria. Let's go deep into the heart of Bogotá!
We'll begin our tour with a wholesome breakfast of chocolate with pandebono (Colombian cheese bread) before visiting the church of San Francisco, the Archaeological Museum Casa del Marqués de San Jorge, and the Gold Museum of Bogota. At this last stop, we'll see a spectacular collection of golden pieces belonging to ancient pre-Colombian civilizations such as the Muiscas or the Calimas, among others.
A stone's throw away is the Plaza de Bolivar - one of the most popular hangout spots in Bogotá. We'll stroll through this great open space, marveling at the impressive architecture. Among them are the Primatial Cathedral of Bogotá, the Capitolio Nacional and the Lievano Palace, which houses the City Hall.
Then we'll go to the neighborhood of La Candelaria, and visit the 10th Street of the Colony, where we'll see the Colegio San Bartolomé and the houses of Manuelita Saenz, Bolívar, and Viceroy Sámano, among other beautiful architecture.
Our next stop will be at the Miguel Urrutia Art Museum, which houses the world-famous monstrance La Lechuga (The Lettuce) before we make a stop at the Botero Museum, where we'll see works donated by Fernando Botero.
After four hours of sightseeing, we'll conclude the tour at this point.
