Have you ever wondered how the Taino people lived in the Dominican Caribbean? On this tour of Cotubanamá National Park, we'll explore the caves they lived in.

Tour Description

After meeting at the indicated time at the Boca de Yuma municipal cemetery, we'll head towards the entrance to Cotubanamá National Park. Are you ready to discover more than 300 cave paintings in natural caves?

We'll enter the trails that run through the dense tropical vegetation of Cotubanamá National Park, also known as Parque del Este. During the walking route, we'll encounter a large number of colourful birds, such as the elegant crowned pigeon, herons, frigate birds and pelicans.

Next, we'll reach the entrance to the first and most important of the caves we'll visit: Berna Cave. From there, we'll walk along the path that goes through numerous caverns where we'll find the petroglyphs drawn by the ancient Taino people. What are the meanings of these peculiar symbols carved in the stones? We'll tell you all the details!

After exploring and learning about the life of the Tainos in the Dominican Caribbean, we'll end this 3-hour tour at the initial meeting point.
