Travel to the heart of Gerona and see two of the area's most beautiful medieval towns. You'll visit Rupit and Besalú, exploring their cobbled streets and learning about their interesting history.
Rupit and Besalú Day Trip
The tour meets at the Blanes Bus Station. From here we'll begin our journey to Rupit, one of Catalonia's (and the world's) most beautiful villages, with a long history stretching back to the 11th Century.
After about an hour and a half, we'll arrive at Rupit, where you'll have free time to explore the area on your own. You can wander through its narrow streets full of stone houses - a clear example of a medieval city.
And no visitor to the town can leave without crossing its famous hanging bridge, where you'll get some amazing views of the natural scenery that surrounds Gerona. We'll fuel up with a complete, typical Catalunian lunch and then continue with the excursion.
Next, we'll make our way to the Santuario de la Mare de Déu del Far, a church perched on top of a hill, at more than 1,000 metres above sea level. We'll visit the chapel, where our guide will reveal the interesting history hidden by its walls.
Finally, we'll arrive at Besalú, another of Gerona's medieval towns. We'll see its bridge, the Jewish baths, the San Pedro de Besalú and San Julián monastery and its church, and the old pilgrim's hospital before heading back to the departure point.
Our tour will come to an end back at the starting point after a total of 9.5 hours.
