Puzzle Hunt: Berlin Wall, Greatest Escapes

A real-time treasure hunt full of history, riddles, puzzles, and other tests awaits you in this game of clues in Berlin. In this self-guided activity, following the instructions that you receive on your mobile phone, you'll make your own way through different parts of the city, putting yourself in the shoes of a Berliner in the era of the Cold War.

Starting from the central Leipziger Platz, you'll decipher different clues and visit various points of the two Germanys, including Checkpoint Charlie, the Brandenburg Gate, and Potsdamer Platz.

After an adventure spanning about 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) and a total of 11 stops, the puzzle hunt will finish at the Brandenburg Gate.

What's the story?

The story of this treasure hunt takes us back to post-World War II Germany when the country was divided between the Allied and Soviet forces.

Constant tensions, protests, and the increasing number of Berliners fleeing from the German Democratic Republic to West Berlin led to the construction of the Wall in 1961.

During the game, you'll play a citizen of East Berlin, but the fate of your brother is very different in the other half of the city. For this reason, you will do everything in your power to join him by finding the most ingenious way to escape through the Berlin Wall. You have an hour to an hour and a half to do this - the clock is ticking!
