Bergamo Free Tour
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Via Solata 1A to start our free tour of Bergamo. During the tour, we'll explore in detail the so-called Città Alta, the historic centre of this town named after its hilltop location.
We'll walk through its cobbled streets while we tell you the history of its main monuments. We'll stop in front of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, a jewel of Lombard Romanesque architecture that will leave you speechless.
There, we'll talk about the long process of construction of this temple, which took about three centuries, and we'll admire the mausoleum attached to the church. This is the Colleoni Chapel, where the mortal remains of one of the most powerful families in the city are laid to rest.
Next, we'll walk through medieval alleys that will lead us to the exterior of the Cathedral of Sant'Alessandro, which is striking for its pristine white façade. You'll be impressed!
Bergamo is not only characterised by history and art, it's also home to delicious food! During the tour, we'll tell you about the local cuisine and the typical dishes that you can't miss. As a good connoisseur of the city, the guide will give you recommendations about their favourite restaurants so that you can enjoy some authentic Bergamo food.
Finally, after about 1.5 hours of sightseeing, we'll conclude the tour in the centre of the Città Alta.
