Berat Free Walking Tour
Berat Free Walking Tour
At the indicated time, we'll meet on Rruga Mihal Komnena Street to start this free tour of Berat, the "City of a Thousand Windows". Want to know how it got that nickname? Find out on the tour!
We'll travel back in time to the 15th century to discover the Ottoman background of the town, as well as the fascinating architectural styles of the different districts of Berat. We'll also see that this city, one of the oldest in Albania, has three old quarters: Mangalem, Gorica and Kalaja.
As we walk around the old town of Berat, we'll see the King's Mosque, the Red and White Mosques, the Trinity Church, and the Halveti Tekke monument.
The tour will then continue in the historic centre, which has been declared a World Heritage Site. We'll cross Republic's Boulevard to reach Berat Castle, a fortress full of authentic gems of Byzantine art.
Finally, after marvelling at the castle's treasures, we'll return to the centre of Berat and end the free tour 2.5 hours later.
