On this tour we'll visit a wine estate in Bento Gonçalves to learn how the grape harvest is carried out and taste the local products - it will be like travelling back to the time of the Italian immigration!
Half Day Visit to a Wine Estate
We'll meet at 12 pm noon at the Bento Gonçalves train station, from where we will depart to start this experience to learn all about the customs of the Italian immigrants who arrived in Brazil in the 19th century.
Next we'll head to a family-run wine estate, where we will experience a day of grape harvesting. You'll discover that the ancient method of treading the grapes represents one of the most typical traditions, brought by the settlers from Italy, and that at that time it was the usual process to extract the juice. A real trip back in time!
We'll then go on to taste a merendim. We'll taste a selection of typical products of the region such as cheeses, sausages and juices, accompanied by a rural band, who'll liven up the atmosphere with their songs and music.
And, of course, there will be a tasting of wines and champagnes from the wine cooperative. It's time for a toast!
Finally, we will return to the starting point in Bento Gonçalves, where the tour will end at 5 pm.
