This trip to the Rei do Mato and Maquiné Caves is perfect to experience some real caving. We'll also visit the Guimaraes Rosa Museum, where we'll discover the life and work of this illustrious author.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll collect you from your hotel in Belo Horizonte to make our way towards the Rei do Mato Cave, located in the city of Sete Lagoas.
Extending to 998 metres (3274 ft.) in length, Rei do Mato is one of the largest caves in Minas Gerais. In this cavern, we'll tour 220 metres (721 ft.) where we'll see imposing stalactites and stalagmites–you'll love it!
Afterwards, we'll begin the journey towards the Maquiné Cave, in Codisburgo city. Did you know that this cave is considered the cradle of palaeontology in Brazil? There, we'll visit 7 overwhelming galleries carved out by nature. Don't forget to take photos!
Then, you'll have an hour of free time to grab a bite to eat and, once you've finished, we'll make our way towards the Guimarães Rosa Museum-House, also located in Codisburgo. This historic spot was home to the famous writer João Guimarães Rosa. On the inside, we'll admire an exhibition of more than 700 pieces of his life and legacy. You'll surely want to read one of his books once we're done!
Finally, we'll return to Belo Horizonte and bring this adventure to an end after 10 hours.
