West Serbia Tour & Šargan 8 Railway

  • 9 reviews | 63 travellers
The trip is very enjoyable. The guide Juan (I don't know how to write it in Serbian) explains many things about the country, the culture, the war... he answers all our questions and always cares that we are comfortable. The driving is excellent. At the viewpoint we had no luck due to the fog but the rest of the visits were great. The return (3 hours in a row) does get a bit heavy. But I still recommend the tour to discover a little more about the place

West Serbia Tour & Šargan 8 Railway

At 7:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Belgrade and start our tour around the beautiful scenery found in West Serbia.

The first stop on our tour of West Serbia will be on the banks of the Drina River, where we'll see the House on the Drina. This famous attraction is a house built with logs upon a stone from the river. Afterwards, we'll head to a viewpoint to admire the breathtaking scenery of mountains and crystal-clear water.

All aboard! Our next stop will be the famous Šargan 8 Railway, which is the narrowest train in Europe. We'll travel back in time as we take our seats in its retro-style carriages and admire the incredible scenery. During the ride, we'll also discover some fun facts about its history and the meaning of its name.

After this trip back in time, we'll head to Mećavnik, where the Kustendorf Film Festival is held every year. This ethno-village and its wooden houses were built by the Serbian film director Emir Kusturica. You'll have some free time for lunch in this village while observing the unique objects made of wood and other natural materials.

Once we've reconvened, we'll set off on our return journey to Belgrade. On the way, we'll pass through the spectacular and winding Ovčar-Kablar Canyon

We'll finish our tour as we arrive back at your hotel in Belgrade at around 7:30 pm.

Pick up

Pick up is included from hotels located within a radius of 3 miles (5 kilometres) from Republic Square. If your hotel isn't located within this area, you'll need to go to the meeting point at Student's Square 5.
