Red Belgrade Communist Tour

At the indicated time, we'll meet up at Nikola Pašić Square, and after our introductions, we'll begin our walking tour through Belgrade. We'll make our first stop at the birthplace of Communist Yugoslavia: Republic Square, the site where Josip Broz Tito, or just "Tito", gave his revolutionary speech just before the proclamation of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1945. From here, we'll begin to stroll through the streets of Belgrade and admire the unique mix of architectural styles. You'll see socialist-grey edifices belonging to the constructivism era mixed with old-style monuments from the era of the Yugoslavian Kingdom, and even some newer buildings from the last couple of decades.

Our next stop will be at Terazije square, where we'll share stories of glamorous holidays and festivities, celebrities, and politicians at the hotel Moskva. Then, at the former square of Marx and Engels, we'll admire the high-and-mighty Trade Union Hall, the place where a humble miner became an underdog superstar. We'll also visit the famous Pioneer's Park.

To really travel back in time, we'll then catch a trolley, the main mode of transport of many Belgrade residents back in the day. The trolley will drop us off at an elite district of Belgrade called Dedinje, famous for numerous embassies and lush residential villas, but also the Museum of Yugoslavia complex. Josip Broz Tito is the most noteworthy figure here, the famous communist leader revered as the country's hero.

Finally, we'll visit the mausoleum or the House of Flowers, as it's known to Serbians. This is where Tito's remains are buried, so we'll take advantage for reviewing his illustrious career and how Serbians lived the final days of the Republic of Yugoslavia.

We'll end the tour and say our goodbyes after 4 hours of fascinating historical storytelling and sightseeing in the capital of Serbia.
