Golubac Fortress, Danube Gorge and Iron Gates Day Trip
Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Belgrade before setting off for the impressive Danube Valley.
After a 2-hour drive, following along the Danube, we'll arrive at the Golubac Fortress, a medieval stronghold built on cliffs that at first sight seem inaccessible. From a distance, we'll see its mystical towers, which look like they're straight out of a fairy tale. From the top of one of these towers, you'll get the best views of the area: an aerial view of the Iron Gates of the Danube, the broadest part of the river, and its breathtaking surroundings.
Afterward, we'll stop at the eco-ethnological complex Kapetan Mišin Breg, from where we'll have a breathtaking view of the Djerdap Gorge, the borderline between eastern Serbia and Romania.
Then, we'll give you some free time to enjoy lunch at any of the local restaurants nearby. With newfound energies, we'll enjoy a 1-hour boat ride through the Iron Gates Gorge, one of the most impressive areas of the Danube as it flows through Serbia.
Following our boat ride, we'll see the Tabula Traiana, a Roman plaque commemorating the ambitious engineering feat of Emperor Trajan, who built a road through the most difficult terrain of the gorge.
Finally, we'll bring our experience to an end, by returning to your hotel where we'll arrive 12 hours later.
