Byblos & Monastery of Saint Maron

Having picked you up from your hotel in Beirut at 8:30 am, we'll set off to the Monastery of Saint Maron, located in northern Lebanon. After an hour and a half's drive, much of which will take us along the beautiful Lebanese coastline.

Located at an altitude of around 1200 metres on one of the hills in the Jbeil region, this rock-carved monastery is also known as the Cave of the Monks. The religious complex is home to the tomb of Saint Charbel, and it has become an important place of pilgrimage for those who want to venerate the saint.

We'll continue the tour by approaching the monastery of St. Joseph, where the tomb of St. Rafqa, a Lebanese Maronite nun who was beatified in 1985, is located. In order to get to know the religious culture of Lebanon, we'll go to Kfifan, specifically to the monastery of St. Hardini, a sacred place that houses the tomb of the Maronite saint Nimatullah Al-Hardini.

At 3 pm we'll relax in a local restaurant where you'll enjoy a delicious Lebanese meal. With our batteries charged, we'll head for Byblos, one of the most beautiful corners of Lebanon.

We'll visit this city which is considered to be one of the oldest in the world, discovering the Roman amphitheatre, the temple of the obelisks or the different tombs of Phoenician kings. It's impressive! Moreover, while we go through the ruins, we'll learn the historical importance of this Middle Eastern enclave.

Finally, you'll have one hour of free time to explore the streets of Byblos and its craft market at your leisure - you won't be able to resist the temptation to buy some local crafts!

We'll be back in Beirut around 6 pm.
