Visit Tiananmen Square, the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong, the Forbidden City, and the traditional 'hutong' streets, when you take our fantastic guided tour of Beijing.
Description
After picking you up from your hotel at the scheduled time, we'll head to our first stop, the famous Tiananmen Square.
Tiananmen is the largest public square in the world and one of China's most iconic landmarks. There are several important sights situated around it, such as the beautiful Qianmen Tower, and the elegant Mausoleum of Mao, which we'll see from the outside.
Heading northwards from the square, we will reach the entrance to the magnificent Forbidden City, the largest imperial residence in the country. For over more than 5 centuries, this was home to the 24 different Chinese emperors. We will explore the enclosure, visiting the most interesting parts and hearing all about its most famous legends.
After the visit, you will then have your own free time to have something to eat and rest.
In the afternoon, we will take a wonderful, traditional rickshaw ride through Beijing's ancient alleyways (known as hutongs). For the following 2 hours, you will see a side of the city that remains anchored in the past and how the inhabitants who live there go about their daily business.
We'll conclude the tour back at your hotel (or an alternate location) 8 hours after pickup.
Itinerary changes
Because this is a private tour, you can choose to modify the itinerary in any way you prefer. You simply need to talk to the guide at the beginning of the excursion.
During winter, or on any day that we finish early, we will also include a visit to Yonghe Temple commonly known as Lama Temple.
Important information
The Forbidden City of Beijing is closed every Monday throughout the year. Therefore, if you do your tour on that day of the week, we recommend that you take the opportunity to visit the Great Wall of China or the Temple of Heaven instead.
In addition, please keep in mind that the availability of access to the Forbidden City is limited, especially on busy dates. Therefore, we recommend you book the activity at least 7 days in advance.
