Tour Description

At the indicated time, head to Liyuan Theater to enjoy a traditional dinner and an opera show in Beijing. Let's go!

For about an hour and a half, you'll enjoy a traditional Beijing dinner, which can consist of soup, a chicken, prawn or meat stir-fry and vegetables with rice. If there's more than 4 people in the group, you might get Peking duck.

After eating, you'll learn about the process of characterisation and preparation of the actors before the show. From there, you'll move on to enjoy the hour-long opera show. Did you know that this musical genre was developed at the end of the 18th century in Beijing? It combines music, singing, mime, dance and acrobatics, performed by artists in elaborate costumes.

Each opera tells a historical or fictional story built around four main characters: sheng (a man), dan (a young woman), jing (a man with a painted face) and chou (a clown, man or woman). Each of these will represent loyalty, betrayal, beauty or evil, among others.

In addition, you'll enjoy some passes of Chinese acrobats, different dances, mime and even poetry. You'll be amazed by the ability of the human body to bend and balance on extremely thin objects. Tight ropes, spinning plates, ladders, sticks, bicycles... An unforgettable show!

After a total of 2.5 hours, we'll end the experience in Beijing. See you next time!
