China Tour Package: 12 Days

Day 1: Beijing

When you arrive at Beijing airport, the guide will be waiting holding a sign with your name and will then take you to the hotel in which you'll stay for the next 3 nights. After check-in, you'll have the rest of the day free.

Day 2: Beijing

Once you've finished breakfast, we'll go to explore the city's historic centre and visit its main landmarks including Tiananmen Square, the biggest in the world and used for important political events. Here we'll also learn more about the city's history as we reach the Forbidden City, containing the impressive Imperial Palace home to Chinese Emperors up to 1911. 

Around 12:30 pm we'll go to a traditional local restaurant to sample some traditional Pekingese cuisine. The tour will then continue on to the famous Hutongs built by the Yuan Ming and Qing dynasties. Our next stop will be Jingshan Park, from which you'll see spectacular views of the Forbidden City. The guided visit will finish by going to the Chinese Tea House.

At 5:30 pm we'll go back to the hotel and you'll have the rest of the day free. 

Day 3: The Great Wall of China - Beijing

This day will be dedicated to one of China's most historic sites as well as one of the world's most impressive landmarks the Great Wall of China. We'll leave the hotel after breakfast and head to Beijing's outskirts.

When we arrive at the Mutianyu entrance we'll take a cable car up high to get an aerial view of one of the impressive Seven Modern Wonders of the World. Did you know that this famous landmark is 6,000 kilometres long (3,700 miles)? 

At 12:30 pm we'll eat a local restaurant and go back to Beijing. There will be stops along the way at two locations built for the 2008 Olympic Games, the National Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest, and the National Aquatics Centre, known as the Water Cube. Afterwards, we'll go to the Jade Museum

We'll arrive back at the hotel at 5:30 pm.

Day 4: Beijing - Xi'an

In the morning we'll go to the train station, and board a high-speed train to Xi'an. After approximately 5 hours we'll arrive in Xi'an where a guide holding a sign with your name on will be waiting for you. You'll be taken to the hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 5: Terracotta Warriors - Xi'an

On this day we'll learn about the legendary Terracotta Warriors. After breakfast, we'll travel outside of Xi'an to one of the world's most important archaeological discoveries. When we reach the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum we'll have the opportunity to see over 8,000 real size terracotta figures of warriors and horses.

The sculptures, named UNESCO World Heritage, are situated around three moats between 4 and 8 metres deep. Did you know that the Terracotta Warriors were buried just one kilometre and a half from the tomb of Qin dynasty's first emperor?

At 12:30, we'll go to a local restaurant to have lunch and return to Xi'an, where we'll visit the best-preserved Bell Tower in the country as well as the lively Muslim quarter.

You'll be taken back to the hotel at around 5:30 pm and have the evening free.

Day 6: Xi'an

When we've finished breakfast, the tour will begin with a guided visit of Xi'an's historic centre. The first stop will be the City Wall, one of the oldest and longest in China, which you can ride along on a bike or golf buggy. Next, we'll go to the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda to enjoy a traditional show.

At midday, we'll have lunch at a local restaurant before visiting the Shaanxi History Museum to discover its culture and history from the Qin Shi Huang Emperor to present day. 

We'll take you back to the hotel at 5:30 pm.

Day 7: Xi'an - Guilin

On this day the tour will take you from Xi'an to Guilin. We'll pick you up from your hotel and take you to Xi'an train station, where you'll board a high-speed train to Guilin. After a 10-hour train journey, a guide will be waiting for you holding a sign with your name on. Upon arrival, we'll take you to your hotel and you'll have the rest of the day free. 

Day 8: Li River to Guilin

After breakfast, we'll meet in the hotel lobby and head to Guilin port where we'll board a 4-hour boat cruise along Li River. During the enjoyable riverside cruise, we'll admire the fairytale landscape until we arrive in Yangshuo to enjoy a lunch on board

Once in Yangshuo we'll disembark and go to West Street, the oldest street in the area and spend an hour strolling past its shops and coffee shops. From here we'll drive back to Guilin and stop at the Pearl Museum.

We'll arrive back at the hotel at 5:30 pm.

Day 10: Shanghai

In the morning we'll wake up on the train to the beautiful views of east China and after a 20-hour journey, we'll arrive in Shanghai. A guide will be waiting for you holding a sign with your name on. From here you'll be taken to the hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 11: Shanghai

At 9:00 am we'll pick up from the hotel and start the tour around the most symbolic landmarks of Shanghai. The first stop will be in one of the neighbourhoods that stands out for its traditional architecture, the Shikumen. Next, we'll visit the Yu Garden, designed by the Ming dynasty

Around 12:30 pm we'll have lunch at a local restaurant, then head to Shanghai Old Street where you'll come across unique souvenirs, and go to the Silk Museum. We'll continue with a stroll along the Bund, where we'll get breathtaking views of the metropolis skyline and, in particular, the Oriental Pearl Tower. We'll even get to climb to the first and second spheres of this iconic tower.

Later, we'll visit the Shanghai History Museum, which will allow us to explore the city's fascinating past. Finally, at around 5:30 pm, we'll drop you off at your hotel and you'll have the rest of the day free to do as you please.

Day 12: Shanghai

After breakfast, we'll head to Shanghai airport. The pickup time will depend on the time of your departure flight.

Important Information

For this tour, you'll need a flight arriving into Beijing and a flight departing from Shanghai, arriving on the day you have booked and departing twelve days later, i.e., if you arrive on Monday, you'll depart on the Friday of the following week.

Please note that during the train journeys, you won't be accompanied by a guide, but someone will be waiting for you at each station holding a sign with your name on it.

Meals

5 lunch meals are included in this 12-day China Tour Package except for the first, fourth, seventh, tenth, and last days. The evening meals are at your leisure. 

The accommodation includes breakfast every day.
