Bath Guided Tour
At the indicated time we'll meet in front of the entrance to Bath Abbey, in the heart of the city, where we can contemplate its structure and beautiful stained glass windows. Its imposing façade and location on the banks of the River Avon make this Gothic temple the city's most iconic landmark.
Afterwards, we'll see the Bath Assembly Rooms, rooms built in the Georgian style, where the society of the time met, and which were frequented by the likes of Jane Austen and Charles Dickens. We'll then continue onto another great symbol of this city: the Roman Baths. Here, we'll visit the exterior of the building and learn about the history of the historic bath complex founded in the time of Emperor Vespasian in 70 AD.
We'll continue this guided tour of Bath in the oldest part of the city, where we'll understand why it has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We'll pass by the Theatre Royal and then move on to Queen's Square, a square that represents one of the most important architectural elements of Bath.
In the last part of this guided tour of Bath we'll approach the Royal Crescent, an important residential complex, composed of thirty terraced houses arranged in a crescent. It's the most important example of Georgian architecture to be found in the UK, and is included in a list of prestigious state-protected buildings. After admiring the Crescent, we'll cross the Georgian-style Pulney Bridge and walk along the riverbank of the River Avon.
We'll end our tour after two hours exploring the history and culture of this fascinating city.
