PADI Open Water Diver Course
Day 1: Theory and practice in confined waters
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Afrocorales Beach Club in Baru. Here, we'll hand out the equipment, and learn everything you need to know about diving techniques.
We'll explain how the different elements of the diving equipment work: how to place them, how to orientate yourself underwater, and how to use the air tanks. We'll also give you tips on how to communicate underwater!
We'll then start practicing in a confined water environment to put our new-found knowledge into practice. You'll learn how to set up and adjust the diving equipment, practice breathing underwater, and enhance your buoyancy skills. This controlled environment will allow you to become familiar with the sensation of diving and gain confidence before we venture into open waters.
Days 2 & 3: Open Water Dives
On the second day we'll meet in the same location and do a total of 2 dives in the waters of the National Natural Park of Corales del Rosario and San Bernardo Islands. Wearing our wetsuits, we'll test your skills to the test while also admiring beautiful coral reefs, brightly coloured tropical fish and other sea creatures.
On the third day, we'll do 2 more dives in the crystal clear waters of the island of Baru to be fascinated by its underwater life: turtles, trumpet fish, parrot fish, barracudas... You'll be amazed by the biodiversity hidden under the waters of the Caribbean!
Finally, at the end of the course, you'll take an exam to obtain the official PADI Open Water certification, which will allow you to dive up to 20 metres (65 feet) deep anywhere in the world! But don't worry, you'll have up to 10 days to prepare for the theory exams.
