Sierra del Tontal Private Trip
At 10 am, we will pick you up at your hotel in Barreal. From there, we will depart in an all-terrain jeep to the Calingasta Valley, where the Sierra del Tontal is located: a majestic mountain range also known as the foothills of San Juan.
We will follow in the tracks of drivers of the Dakar Rally, which took place in South America between 2009 and 2019. We will pass through some of the most crucial stages of the race! Afterward, we will move towards the area of the mountain range where a series of communication antennas stand at an altitude of more than 13,000 feet.
During the trip, we will also admire the otherworldly landscapes of puna grasslands, which are characteristic of the Andean altiplano regions. And after enjoying these panoramic views, we will visit an old silver deposit, which was exploited during the Argentine government of Domingo Faustino Sarmiento.
Afterward, we'll regain our strength with a tasty picnic lunch and start our return journey. Along the way, we will observe other points of the 250 miles of mountains that make up the Sierra del Tontal. Don't forget to bring your camera to photograph these majestic peaks! In winter, they are covered by a thick white blanket of snow, making them even more spectacular.
We will take another break halfway through to enjoy a light snack in the middle of nature. Finally, at 6 pm, we will be back at your hotel in Barreal.
