Barrranquilla Free Tour
Barrranquilla Free Tour
At the appointed time we'll meet in front of the La Casa del Carnaval to start this free tour of Barranquilla. Ready to experience life in one of the most important cities in Colombia? Off we go!
We'll begin by walking through the area known as Barrio Abajo, the epicenter of Barranquilla's popular culture. We'll see the typical colorful houses and talk about the importance and deeply-rooted tradition of Carnival in the city. Did you know that this festival is on the list of Intangible Heritage of Humanity? You'll soon see why!
During the free tour, we'll admire the façades of different churches, such as the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Queen Mary Cathedral. We'll also see the Edgard Rentería baseball stadium and the Customs House building, as well as talk about some of the city's illustrious personalities, including the writer Gabriel García Márquez and the singers Joe Arroyo and Shakira.
On some stops, we'll also have the opportunity to get to know local artisans, plastic artists, dancers, cooks, and historians - an enriching experience!
After an hour and a half of sightseeing, we'll finish the free tour of Barranquilla in Plaza de la Paz or in a central area of the city.
