Palafitte Towns of Cienaga Trip
Palafitte Towns of Cienaga Trip
We will pick you up from your hotel in Barranquilla at 4:30 am and set off in a minibus to the Islas del Rosario dock. There, a speedboat will be waiting to take us through the enchanting Cienaga de Santa Marta marsh, an area that has been declared a World Biosphere Reserve. Get ready to discover some stunning landscapes.
During the boat trip, you will appreciate the amazing variety of colorful flora and fauna of the Cienaga. This natural area is made up of idyllic paths, exuberant vegetation, and beautiful lakes whose shores are home to the so-called palafitte towns. These picturesque fishing villages have managed to maintain a unique and singular way of life for centuries.
We will make a stop in one of the villages to get to know the community and its ancestral customs. After chatting with some local people, we will taste a traditional meal prepared with fish or vegetables. Tasting the local cuisine in this incredible natural environment will be an unforgettable moment during your trip to Cienaga.
Finally, we will return to the minibus and head back to Barranquilla, where we will arrive at 3:30 pm.
