Discover the natural and historical charms of Ciénaga and its surroundings with this excursion from Barranquilla.
Ciénaga Excursion
At 6 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Barranquilla and board the minibus for Ciénaga, a Colombian municipality in the department of Magdalena. Fun fact: this beautiful town located 70 kilometers from Barranquilla inspired Gabriel García Márquez to write 100 Years of Solitude!
As we walk through the historic streets of Ciénaga, we'll talk about the origins of this town that found itself in a great economic position in the early 20th century thanks to the banana industry. During the tour, we'll visit Plaza del Centenario Park, the Templete, the Church of San Juan Bautista and many other valuable monuments of the time.
Afterward, we'll head to the Cordobita region to visit the Ciénaga volcano. Did you know that its thermal waters have medicinal properties? We'll discover this with a beneficial bath and a mud massage - you'll love it!
Finally, we'll return to the minibus and start on our way back to Barranquilla, where we'll arrive at 3 pm.
