Description
You can choose between any of the options below when making your reservation. Each has a meeting point at Barichara Main Park and includes pickup and drop–off from the meeting point to the workshop location.
Painting workshop (2 hours)
With this workshop, we'll embark on an earth painting adventure, exploring the traditional technique of crafting art with natural pigments from nature. Discover a range of colors and techniques, and create your very own painting to take home as a cherished souvenir!
The beauty of this workshop lies in its accessibility; no prior experience is necessary. Alongside teaching traditional methods, we'll also impart our top tips and tricks, ensuring you create a stunning piece that will ignite your enthusiasm for further earth painting adventures.
The workshop will last 2 hours, with an additional 10 minutes for transfers to and from pickup points.
Basketweaving workshop (2.5 hours)
If you choose this option, we'll visit a workshop to learn all about the art of traditional style basketweaving, specifically with Pedro Alejo Vine. Never heard of it? By the end of this workshop, you'll be well-versed in its properties and craft a stunning piece to carry home as a keepsake!
We'll also uncover fascinating tales from the past of these lands, offering insights into the lives of Barichara's ancient inhabitants as we work with the same ancient material. The icing on the cake: you'll create your very own basket to bring back home.
After a full 2 hours immersed in this art form, we'll bring you back to the original meeting point. Please allow 40 minutes for pickup and drop–off transfers from the workshop.
Ceramic workshop (3 hours)
Perhaps you'd rather learn basic pottery techniques on your trip to Barichara. With this option, we'll go to an artisan workshop to discover how it's done. We'll begin the pottery workshop by reviewing the principles of the Guane technique used by the indigenous people who inhabited Barichara and its surroundings.
We'll start by familiarizing ourselves with the tools used to make ceramic pieces as we also learn how to prepare the clay. Then, we'll dig our hands in and make an object with this material. Please note with this option, you won't be able to take your creation home with you because it'll have to dry for a whole day, but we'll give you a previously made one as a gift.
The ceramic workshop will last 2 hours, with an additional hour allotted for pickup and drop–off transfers to the center of Barichara.
