Matera Day Trip
Day Trip Details
Meet us at Teatro Petruzzelli for an envigorating adventure as we set off, leaving Bari behind, in search of one of the world's oldest cities, Matera!
After a brief 1-hour car ride, we'll arrive in Matera—named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, that has not only risen from its historical ashes but has also turned into one of Italy's most sought-after tourist destinations. From here, we'll enjoy beautiful panoramic views from one of the lookout points in the city.
Then, we'll explore the workshop of Amaro Lucano, featuring the "Matera in Miniature" exhibition. Here we'll have a perfect opportunity to delve into the history of this Basilicata region town. Our journey will then lead us to a cave house, a main attraction in Matera, known for its status as a cave city with an old town intricately carved into the rock.
To wrap up our Matera tour, we'll explore the fruit and vegetable market, giving you the chance to savor the renowned truffles and experience the rich local cuisine. Following this short break, you'll have some free time to explore Matera and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
As the tour comes to an end, we'll head back to Bari, dropping you off at the meeting point 6 hours later.
