Cisternino Olive Oil Mill Tour + Tasting
Olive Oil Mill Tour
Meet us next to the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, and we'll board our minibus to set off southeast to reach the picturesque town of Cisternino. Enjoy the beautiful Italian coastline passing by during our 1-hour car ride.
After a short and comfortable ride, we'll arrive at the olive oil mill in Cisternino. This type of rural construction, often found in southern Italy, dates back to the 16th century. Here, at this country house, similar to a farmhouse, we'll learn how Italian olive oil is made.
As we tour the grounds, we'll discuss the various health benefits olive oil has as we gaze upon the expansive grounds. We'll catch a glimpse of the mill used to crush the olives as we follow the oil-making process step-by-step. Of course, along the way, our knowledgeable guide will share many more fun facts with us!
Before leaving the mill, no tour would be complete without an olive oil tasting! Once we've sampled the liquid gold, we'll continue to take a short tour through the scenic town of Cisternino. A southern gem of Italy, its streets are decorated with traditional architecture, featuring charming white houses and enchanting alleyways that are sure to captivate you.
Our last stop before boarding our minibus again is to try the traditional bombette pugliesi, a typical recipe of the Apulia region. Comprised of pork, this 'little bomb' of flavor will leave you with an excellent taste in your mouth.
Then, after 5 hours of sightseeing, we'll return to Bari, parting ways back at the meeting point.
