Alberobello + Matera Self Guided Tour
Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at Bari's Chamber of Commerce and start touring the south of Italy by bus.
First, we'll drive through the beautiful landscapes of Apulia. An hour later, we'll arrive in Alberobello, where you'll have 3 hours of free time to visit its ionic trulli. These beautiful masonry constructions, very characteristic of southern Italy, were declared a World Heritage Site in 1996.
The Siamesi and Sovrano trulli, as well as the picturesque neighbourhoods of Rione Aia Piccola and Rione dei Monti, are the main attractions of Alberobello. We also recommend visiting other architectural gems of the town, such as the church of San Antonio di Padua or the Basilica of San Cosimo and San Damiano.
After your free time in Alberobello, we'll meet again in the centre of the town to head for Basilicata. At 1:30 pm, we'll arrive in Matera, a charming little town that was named the European Capital of Culture in 2019.
You'll have another 4 hours free for lunch and a leisurely stroll among the famous Sassi of Matera, curious cave houses located in the historic centre. Did you know that some scenes from the 007 film No Time to Die were filmed here? You'll be able to walk the same streets as the secret agent James Bond!
Finally, we'll return to the meeting point, arriving 10-11 hours after pickup.
