Vic, Rupit & Besalú Excursion

The guide was extremely knowledgeable and personable. He modified the tour according to our interests. He also modified our tour since my husband uses a cane and can’t do too much walking or walking up and down hills. The Places we visited were amazing. If you have only one day for a day trip from Barcelona, I highly recommend this tour.

Vic, Rupit & Besalú Excursion

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Barcelona between 8 and 9 am to head north towards Besalú, a medieval village that will leave you speechless.

This charming town, located at an important crossroads east of La Garrotxa, will welcome us with its spectacular Romanesque bridge. We'll cross this imposing viaduct and start touring the historic center of Besalú, which is considered one of the most beautiful villages in the province of Girona.

As we explore the streets of Besalú, we'll pass by the Jewish miqvé, the churches of San Pedro, Santa Maria and San Vicente, and the old pilgrims' hospital. It'll be like taking a trip to another era!

After this visit, we'll get back on the minibus and make a stop at the La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park. Here we'll go on a hiking route to check out its beech, oak and holm oak forests, as well as the volcanoes and lava flows that formed this landscape in the interior of Catalonia.

Next, we go to Rupit, a medieval gem in the province of Barcelona boasting perfectly preserved stone houses built over 400 years ago. In Rupit you'll have an hour of free time to have lunch in one of its restaurants.

Then, we'll make our way to the last medieval village of our tour, Vic. Here, we'll get to know its historic center as we walk through its Plaza Mayor and see the Casa Beuló and Casa Tolosa.

Before returning to Barcelona, we'll stop at the Palau dels Montcada, the ruins of an ancient Roman temple from the 2nd century.

The excursion will then conclude returning to your hotel at approximately 6 pm.
