Why Visit the Museu del Modernisme de Barcelona?
Located on Calle Balmes, very close to the central Plaça de Catalunya, the Barcelona Museum of Modernisme is a benchmark for Catalan modernisme art.
The museum was founded in 2010 by Fernando Pinós and Maria Guirao, owners of the Gothsland Gallery. The exhibition is located in a modernist building designed in the early 20th century by the architect Enric Sagnier in the heart of the Eixample district. Although the property was originally used as a textile factory, it's now perfectly adapted to house the museum's collection.
In their capacity as antique dealers, Pinós and Guirao have gathered numerous modernist works that are now exhibited in the museum. The collection will allow you to delve into the origins and evolution of Catalan modernisme through paintings, sculptures, and other decorative art pieces. The furniture in the museum is also highly relevant.
There are works in the museum by outstanding artists such as Picasso, Rusiñol and Utrillo, among other famous artists. You'll be blown away!
