Discover Catalan cuisine on this tapas tour through the markets of La Boquería and Santa Caterina, the two most representative gastronomic gathering places in Barcelona!
Tapas in La Boquería & Santa Caterina Markets
We'll start this tapas tour of Barcelona meeting at 12 pm in Plaza Real. From this central esplanade of the Catalan capital, we'll take a walk along Las Ramblas to the popular Mercado de La Boquería: one of the most famous markets in Barcelona.
In La Boquería, we'll see its large number of stalls, which offer great gastronomic delights such as fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, olive oil, sausages, etc.. We'll also discover what traditional recipes are usually made with these delicious products.
After visiting La Boquería, we'll take a walk to a bar located near the market to try three typical tapas. Both the location of this tasting and the pintxos we'll try will vary according to the season and the current availability.
Once we have refueled with tapas, we'll continue our tour of Barcelona heading to Mercado de Santa Caterina. In this iconic food market, we'll look at the details of its architecture and, of course, visit its different stalls to discover the most popular products.
After visiting the Santa Caterina market, we'll go to a nearby restaurant to have different traditional dishes, including fried calamari, patatas bravas (fried potatoes with spicy sauce) and Iberian ham.
In this restaurant near Santa Caterina, which will vary according to the season, we'll conclude the tour at 2 pm.
