When Christmas arrives, the capital of Catalonia is full of colourful lights, Christmas markets and an unrivalled atmosphere. Discover the magic of these attractions on this free Christmas tour of Barcelona.
Description
We'll begin this free Christmas tour of Barcelona from Plaza Real Square, where we'll meet at the scheduled time to enjoy its festive atmosphere.
After a brief introduction, we'll begin walking towards Plaza de San Jaime Square, where we'll see the Christmas tree and Barcelona's most famous nativity scene, which changes each year. This nativity scene is located right in the centre of the esplanade between the City Hall and the headquarters of the Generalitat.
Then, we'll make our way towards the Fira de Santa Llúcia, where we'll visit the oldest Christmas market stalls in Barcelona. From there, we'll make our way towards different shopping areas where you'll be able to find a wide variety of Christmas gifts and decorations. We'll also visit Calle Petritxol, where we'll discover the tradition of Barcelona's Christmas sweets.
Of course, during the tour, we'll also hear all about typical Christmas food. In addition to the very typical turrones and polvorones, in Catalonia, you simply cannot miss out on the cava and the escudella i carn d'olla. After learning about the traditional food, we'll head towards Paseo de Gràcia to take in the most stunning Christmas lights in Barcelona.
We'll also see the Christmas decorations from the outside of Casa Batlló, a precious work by Gaudí whose lights are more beautiful than ever at Christmas time. Continuing down Paseo de Gràcia, we'll eventually arrive at the Hotel Majestic, where after 2 hours, we'll bring this free Christmas tour to an end by admiring the lights of this iconic hotel.
