At the indicated time we'll begin this guided tour of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar at the Passeig del Born, specifically at the back entrance to the church.
Built in the 14th century, the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar is one of the main medieval temples of Barcelona. We'll start our visit to this gothic jewel by entering the central nave, where we'll take a look at all the details of the ribs and other architectural elements.
As we tour the church, we'll discover the importance it has for the inhabitants of the neighbourhood of El Borne. We'll also talk about how Ildefonso Falcones' novel "The Cathedral of the Sea" highlighted this basilica and the work of the bastaixos who helped to build it.
We'll continue our tour admiring the church's stained glass windows, where we'll see a very special one depicting the FC Barcelona shield. You'll discover why Barça is present in it! We'll also visit other areas of the basilica, such as the crypt.
