Tour of Baños de la Encina
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Tourist Office on José Luis Messía Avenue to start our guided tour of Baños de la Encina.
Our first stop will be the Muslim castle of Bury Al-Hamma (Burgalimar in Spanish) from the Caliphate period (10th century). A simple glance at its imposing façade will confirm that it's one of the best-preserved castles in Europe and the only one in Europe made of tabiyya (dry mud). We'll walk around its towers and, from inside, we'll be able to admire spectacular views of the village.
During the excursion, we'll make an interesting visit to the church of San Mateo and the hermitage of Cristo del Llano. The latter will surprise you with its strident figures and eye-catching decorations considered one of the best examples of Andalusian rococo baroque. Mirrors embedded in the walls reflect the sculptures inside and create a spiritual and solemn atmosphere.
Then, our trip will continue with a walk through the historic centre of Baños de la Encina, where we'll admire stately houses and other ancient jewels that have been well-preserved.
Finally, after 2 hours of touring, we'll conclude the tour.
Things to Note
On some occasions and for reasons beyond our control, the interior of some buildings will be closed and we will not be able to access them.
