Cotopaxi Volcano Excursion
Cotopaxi Volcano Excursion
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa between 7 and 8 am and set off towards the province of Cotopaxi. Along the way, we'll begin to enjoy the views of the area's imposing volcanoes: Chimborazo, Los Altares, Tungurahua, Illinizas and Ruminahui.
After a two-and-a-half-hour drive, we'll arrive at Cotopaxi National Park, where we'll our ascent will begin. Did you know that the Cotopaxi volcano is the most active volcano in Ecuador? It's also among the highest active volcanoes in the world!
We'll visit the Cotopaxi Museum to learn about the different eruptions of the volcano and the regional flora and fauna. Then we'll continue on to the Limpiopungo Lagoon, where we'll be able to snap some incredible photos.
From the lagoon, we'll follow a trail to one of the park's refuges, where we'll take a break and have lunch. After refueling, we'll ascend to 5,000 meters, the highest point of our tour and the start of the glacier that tops the volcano.
After walking around the area and taking in the surrounding environment, we'll begin the descent to the base of Cotopaxi. The excursion will conclude with our return to your hotel, where we'll arrive at 4 pm.
