Become a true explorer as you climb Ecuador's second-highest mountain on this 2-day trek up the Cotopaxi volcano.
Cotopaxi Volcano 2 day Trekking Tour
Day 1
We'll pick you up between 7:00 and 8:00 am at your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa and, before leaving, you'll be given a brief introduction about crampons, ice axes and everything you need to know about mountain trekking.
Our next stop will be the Cotopaxi volcano. We'll stop at a car park next to the mountain and from there we'll hike to a refuge at an altitude of 14763 feet (4500 metres). Upon arrival, we'll have soup, a plate of meat and juice to get our strength back.
Afterwards, we'll go to the glacier area to learn everything we need to know about ice trekking. At nightfall, we'll enjoy a plate of meat or chicken with juice.
Day 2
At 12 am, we'll get up to prepare everything to get to the summit. Before leaving the refuge, we'll have a snack of bread, fruit, and tea or coffee. We'll then set off on a six-hour trekking route to reach 19347 feet (5897 metres).
When we arrive, you'll experience extraordinary views of the Andes mountain range. Did you know that the Cotopaxi volcano had a large emission of ash?
We'll then walk back to the lodge to replenish our energy with coffee and fruit. Finally, we’ll return to your hotel in Baños de Agua Santa, where we'll arrive at 2 pm.
