Hiking Tours in Banff
When booking, you'll be able to choose between four different options. All of them include pickup and drop–off at our meeting point in Banff (the bus parking lot behind the Hotel Mount Royal), transportation by minibus, and an English-speaking guide who is a mountaineering expert.
Below, you can see the differences between each option:
Stanley Glacier Hike (3-4 hours)
On this hiking tour through Kootenay National Park, you'll experience stunning views of the magnificent Stanley Glacier. As we begin our excursion, we'll traverse a trail that was recently affected by a forest fire but offers an impressive view of Vermilion Pass - a high mountain pass that connects Kootenay National Park and Banff National Park.
Our journey will continue amidst the towering walls of Mount Stanley and Storm Mountain until we reach the "land of rock and ice" and behold the majestic Stanley Glacier. Along the way, we'll learn about the fascinating wildlife that inhabits the area.
We'll then make our way back to the trailhead before transporting you back to the meeting point.
Departure time: This tour takes place on Thursdays and Sundays at 8 am.
Larch Valley Hike (4-5 hours)
On this tour through the breathtaking valley of the Ten Peaks and Moraine Lake, we'll ascend the Larch Valley, navigating its famous 10 bends, and once at the top, stroll through an awe-inspiring larch forest.
As we follow the hiking trail, we'll learn about the unique features of the area while ascending Sentinel Pass up to the Minnestimma lakes. From there, we'll marvel at the spectacular views of the Ten Peaks, Moraine Lake, and Mount Temple.
Departure time: This hiking option takes place on Mondays and Saturdays at 8 am.
Consolation Lake Hike (3-4 hours)
Our adventure begins with a hike through the stunning valley of the Ten Peaks, specifically around the picturesque Moraine Lake. Throughout this scenic route, we'll be captivated by breathtaking views, as we navigate beautiful forest trails that lead us to the vicinity of Consolation Lake. Along the way, we'll be in awe of the Fay Glacier, situated atop Mount Babel. Our return journey will take us back across Moraine Lake and up to the summit of Rockpile, offering even more spectacular views.
Departure time: this option is on Tuesdays at 8 am
Six Glaciers Hike (5 hours)
We'll begin the hike by walking along the shore of Lake Louise until we reach the back of the spring, the gateway to the ancient glacial valley. As we ascend, the color of the lake will change and acquire a beauty difficult to forget.
Afterwards, we'll walk along the park trail and find the Plain of Six Glaciers teahouse, a famous stop for those who take this route and want to enjoy their famous sweets while admiring the views of the Six Glaciers and Lake Louise. Also, weather permitting, we'll approach the historic Abbot Pass.
Departure time: This tour takes place on Wednesdays and Fridays at 8 am.
