Boat to Ons Island
Boat to Ons Island
At the indicated time we'll set sail by ferry from the port of Baiona in the direction of the National Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia.
First of all, we'll sail along the Vigo estuary, where we'll pass by San Martiño, Montefaro and Monteagudo: the three main areas of the Cíes Islands. Although we won't visit this archipelago, you'll be able to see the famous Rodas beach from the boat.
The crossing, which takes around an hour and 15 minutes, will continue in the Pontevedra estuary, where the island of Ons is located. Once we reach our destination, we'll disembark and you'll have the rest of the day free to enjoy its beautiful natural environment.
You can take advantage of your free time to have lunch, relax on its quiet beaches and explore one of its four hiking trails. One of these trails leads to the Ons lighthouse, considered one of the largest in Spain.
Finally, at the time we indicate, we'll meet again at the dock of Ons Island to start the return trip to the port of Baiona.
Authorization to visit Ons Island
The island of Ons is a protected space with a daily quota of visitors, and to be able to travel there you must have authorization from the Xunta de Galicia.
Please keep in mind that during the high season (from May 15 to September 15 and during Holy Week) you must bring your own authorization from the Xunta de Galicia to be able to access Ons. For this, you'll be sent an email as soon as possible. During the rest of the year, it will not be sent to you, as it will be the guide who will bring it on the day of the tour.
If for any other reason, some people cannot attend the activity, you must give at least 15 days of notice beforehand and indicate the first name and surname of the individual who will not be attending so that their name can be removed from the list by the Xunta de Galicia.
