On this guided tour of Baeza we'll walk through the historic centre of this beautiful World Heritage City and visit the Cathedral of the Nativity.
Baeza Guided Tour
Our guided tour of Baeza will start at the central Obispo Narváez St. During our walk through this city that has been declared a World Heritage Site, we'll learn about the history of emblematic monuments such as the Tower of the Aliatares, a vestige of the ancient wall of the Andalusian period. We'll then head to the picturesque Barbacana St, where we'll visit the city's 16th-century granary.
Then, we'll head to the Constitution and Pópulo squares. In this part of the city, we'll find several historic civilian buildings, such as the old Public Notaries. Nearby, we'll also see the Palace of Jabalquinto and go inside the church of Santa Cruz to admire its rich heritage.
We'll also tour the inside of the old University of Baeza, where we'll remember the illustrious writer Antonio Machado, and the Cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lady. In this church of medieval origin, we'll notice the evolution of different artistic and architectural styles ranging from Gothic to Renaissance. We'll also see the Guadalquivir Valley from the lookout point of the old city walls, where we'll see the Cazorla and Mágina mountain ranges.
Finally, we'll end the tour with a tasting of olive oil, one of the most characteristic products of the province of Jaén.
