Baeza Cathedral Tickets
Why Visit the Baeza Cathedral?
Located in the heart of Baeza's historic center, one of the 15 Spanish cities declared a World Heritage Site, the stunning Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin of Baeza is one of the most important Renaissance gems of the province of Jaén.
With this ticket to the Baeza Cathedral, you'll explore the church following the explanations of an audio guide in English. The tour will begin at the Puerta de la Luna (Moon Gate), one of the entrances to the former mosque erected in the same place. After crossing this threshold, you'll enter the Capilla Dorada (Golden Chapel), the most important chapel in the cathedral.
Our tour with an audio guide continues in the cloister, leading you into the Museo Catedralicio. In this museum, you'll admire goldsmith gems from Toledo's Molero workshops, with the standout piece being the Piedad, sculpted in polychrome alabaster. You'll also marvel at a collection of intricately carved panels attributed to the school of Juan de Juni.
On our visit to Andalusía's oldest cathedral, you'll also discover the nave de la Epístola (nave of the Epistle), where you'll admire the cathedral's most emblematic paintings: the San José by Juan de Frías and Escalante and the Sagrada Familia by Juan de Valdés Leal. You'll also see the majestic Baroque altarpiece and in the nave del Evangelio (nave of the Gospel), you'll find important chapels, like the San Miguel Chapel or the Arcedianos Chapel.
One of the greatest treasures is the processional monstrance of Baeza Cathedral, one of the most important in Spain. It was crafted by the Antequera silversmith Gaspar Núñez de Castro in the 18th century. After admiring this masterpiece, you can climb the bell tower and enjoy stunning scenic views of Baeza.
This 45-minute tour with an audio guide will conclude with an immersive experience with 360° virtual reality glasses. With this device, you'll see a video of 16th-century Baeza, admire the cathedral from a drone's perspective, and discover the secrets of its interior.
