Kohunlich and Dzibanché Tour
Kohunlich and Dzibanché Tour
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Bacalar and head out to visit two ancient Mayan settlements located in the Mexican jungle of Quintana Roo!
First, we'll visit the archaeological site of Dzibanché, one of the state's most important Mayan cities in the south. It's believed that its origins date back to 200 BC. Besides its various temples, you'll also be amazed by the lush jungle environment surrounding the site. With a bit of luck, we may even see howler monkeys and different exotic birds!
Afterwards, we'll get back on the bus to visit the archaeological site of Kohunlich, a Mayan ceremonial center made up of several architectural complexes. We'll walk through the acropolis until we arrive at the Temple of the Masks, which has 5 figures representing everyday aspects of Mayan ceremonial life. We'll also admire the Temple of the 27 Steps and other emblematic sites.
Before returning to Bacalar, we'll stop at a restaurant in the middle of the jungle. We'll fill up on an exquisite menu that includes a main course, starter, dessert, and drink. It'll be delicious!
After an 8-hour tour, we'll end the excursion and drop you back off at your hotel.
