Discover two of New Zealand's must-see places on this excursion to Wai-O-Tapu and Rotorua. We'll visit one of the country's most famous geothermal areas!
Wai-O-Tapu & Rotorua Excursion
At the appointed time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Auckland and embark on a tour of two of New Zealand's greatest attractions: Wai-O-Tapu & Rotorua!
We'll travel south through the stunning Waikato countryside, one of the largest agricultural areas in the country - and the world! Along the way, we'll see scenery featuring rivers, mountains, and animals like cows, horses, and sheep. We'll also stop for a coffee and a refreshment.
Continuing on, we'll pass through Tirau, a small New Zealand town also known as the Corrugated Iron Capital of the World. We'll see lots of fun sculptures and buildings constructed with this material during the tour. Which one will be your favorite? It'll be difficult to choose!
Following our visit to Tirau, we'll make our way to one of the highlights of the excursion, the Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland. We'll visit this spectacular geothermal area, admiring the famous Champagne Lake, Devil's Bath, the mud pools, and the craters. Disclaimer: you might need to hold your nose a bit, as Wai-O-Tapu has a distinct smell that takes some getting used to.
After touring this surreal place, we'll head to the city of Rotorua, where we'll go on a sightseeing tour of its main attractions, such as Lake Rotorua, the Government Gardens, the Rotorua Museum, and Whangapipiro (Rachel Spring). Then, you'll have an hour of free time to have lunch in a restaurant.
Finally, we'll meet again and head back to Auckland, where the tour will finish at your hotel after 11 hours of activity.
