Acropolis Guided Tour

  • 1,948 reviews | 20,627 travellers
Maria has been an excellent guide who has taken us through history, mythology and the present. It is worth going early because, although it is no longer summer, at 11 in the morning when we left there was a "mile-long queue" to get in.

On this guided tour of the Acropolis of Athens, we'll visit one of the most iconic Greek temple complexes in the world - a must if you visit the capital of Greece!

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at number 26 Athanasiou Diakou to start this guided tour of the Acropolis. From here, we'll walk to the most iconic landmark in the Greek capital: the hill on which the Upper City of Athens is situated.

We'll walk up the southern slope of the hill to avoid the large crowds of tourists as we take in the beautiful views of the city. Once we reach the top, we'll start our tour of the Acropolis starting with the Theater of Dionysus, which dates back to the 5th century BC. Do you want to know which famous Greek poets had their plays performed there?

Next, we'll learn about the most interesting legends of Greek mythology while touring the monuments of the Acropolis: the world-famous Parthenon, the temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, and its caryatids or the Propylaea. This is a dream come true for those passionate about Classical Greece.

Finally, after 2 hours of exploring, we'll end the tour on one of the hills of the Acropolis which offers one of the best panoramic views of Athens.

Tour Schedule

At the time of booking, you can choose whether you want to start the tour at 8:15 am, 8:45 am, 9 am, or 10:30 am.

We recommend booking your tour early in the morning to avoid queues and the hottest hours of the day.

Acropolis Tickets

If you'd prefer, you can book the guided tour of the Acropolis without tickets. In this case, you'll need to purchase your own tickets (both paid and free, if applicable) according to the tour schedule. Keep in mind that tickets may not always be available at the Acropolis ticket office on the day of your visit, so we recommend buying them online ahead of time. Please note that from November 1st 2024 to 31 March 2025, you must buy your ticket to the Acropolis in the 9 am to 10 am timeslot.

EU citizens over 65 and non-EU youth aged 6 to 25 can get a 50% discount on admission. Admission is free for EU citizens under 25 and all children under 5. If anyone in your group qualifies for these discounts, it's best to book the tour without tickets and buy your paid or free tickets in advance to make the most of these offers.
